HOW TO FORCEFULLY DELETE A FILE/FOLDER ?

SOME OF YOU MUST HAVE COME ACROSS SOME STUBBORN FILES/FOLDERS WHICH REFUSE TO BE MOVED/DELETED.

HERE IS THE SIMPLE METHOD TO DELETE THE PARTICULAR FILE OR THE DIRECTORY:

1) GO TO COMMAND PROMPT [ TYPE "cmd" IN RUN ] AND NAVIGATE TO THE PARTICULAR FILE [NO NEED TO NAVIGATE TO THE FOLDER IN CASE OF FOLDER]
2) OPEN WINDOWS TASK MANAGER
3) KILL THE PROCESS "explorer.exe"
4) NOW DELETE THE CONCERNED FILE OR DIRECTORY [FOLDER] IN THE DOS MODE.
TO REMOVE FILE TYPE "del " [ eg: del C:\documents and settings\desktop\xyz.exe ]
TO REMOVE FOLDER USE "rd " [ eg: rd C:\documents and settings
\desktop\ABC /s ]
{ /s IS USED TO DELETE EVERY FILE AND FOLDER INSIDE THAT FOLDER }
5) NOW IN THE FILE MENU OF WINDOWS TASK MANAGER CREATE NEW TASK, TYPE "explorer.exe"
6) !!!!!!DONE!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER METHOD IS THE SOFTWARE "UNLOCKER".

DOWNLOAD IT. ITS EASY TO USE, FREE AND IS IN KILOBYTES.

HI Tarun,

how does deleting the explorer.exe makes it del the folder..??

hi........Actually you dont delete the explorer.exe . Its a windows process. It helps you access various folders and files.
By killing it for some time. You are stopping it to access the particular file. With the help of this process, the file is linked with some other program or file which is preventing it from being deleted........so now you can delete the file in DOS mode [ you can think it to be unattractive form of explorer]

hi
It happens because the folder or the files gets locked by the process or in use by that process
The file gets locked when the query to grant the privilidges of the file to the process is not completed on time or is withheld due to some reason.
for that you must stop that process completely [my cmd method] or unlock that file from the process [by unlocker]

Hi

I just tried your method, and i hit some problems. my command was rd C:\Programfiles \common files \..... \MicrosoftOfficeProtectionPolicy.
I hit enter, it said "u sure Y/N?"
Yes... Now i have no common files folder anymore (filled with important stuff) and I think I am missing a couple of other folders in my programfiles folder. *facepalm* i dont have a recent(or any other for that matter) backup of my system, basically... I am fucked..*sadface*
Is there any way i can maybe get my shit back?(don't think so)

Anyways, it has sure been a learning experiance...

I had wow on win vista and when I got 7 it put all of my vista shit in a windows.old folder and I didn't want to go through and change ownership on every file in there It would have takin forever. thank you
